Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Luxury Transfer to Magashi Camp, Akagera
Day 1 of the 12 Days Luxury Adventure safari will start with a pick up from Kigali International Airport by our professional driver guide who will warmly welcome and greet you.
From there, Drive to Akagera National Park approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, check in at Magashi Camp, a luxury tented camp located in the park’s northeast corner.
The camp offers spectacular views and the best of African wildlife right outside your door. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the camp. Dinner and Overnight Stay.

Day 2: Sunrise Big Five Game Drive & Lake Ihema Boat Safari
After breakfast, start the day with a private sunrise game drive.
This game drive will take you through vast Savannah plains, woodlands and lake shores to look for the big five (Elephants, Buffaloes, Lions, Leopards and Rhinos) and other animals.
For bird enthusiasts, you can sight different birds like African grey hornbill, Red faced barbet, Giant kingfisher among others. Expect to spend about 2 – 3 hours on the game.
After this encounter, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Later in the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along Lake Ihema. Lake Ihema is the second largest lake in Rwanda.
You will sight hippos, crocodiles and countless water birds. Return to the park to enjoy sundowners overlooking the water and a gourmet dinner at the camp. Dinner and Overnight Stay.

It’s during the dry seasons from June to September and December to February. During these months, the weather is pleasant, wildlife sightings are abundant.

Day 3: Wilderness Walking Safari & Private Lodge Relaxation
On this day, explore the park on foot. Walking safaris are conducted in the presence of an armed park ranger to ensure visitors safety.
This safari expose visitor to true African Wilderness, smaller wildlife and flora that is often missed out while seated in a tourist vehicle.
Visitors can spot wildlife such as Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Zebras, Giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Relax at the camp, participate in the lodge activities such as Spa, swimming, gym among others as you cool off from the long day. Dinner and Overnight stay.
Best time to do walking safari
Dry seasons from June to September and December to February are ideal. During these months, trails are dry and animal sightings are more frequent due to reduced vegetation and water sources.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour: History, Culture, and Contemporary Art
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali which will take about 3 hours.
Upon arrival at Kigali, enjoy a private guided city tour starting with the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about Rwanda’s poignant history.
Visit the Kimironko Market, a bustling local market where you can explore Rwandan crafts, fabrics, and produce.
Visit the Inema Arts Center for a taste of contemporary Rwandan art. Lunch break
In the Afternoon, Visit Nyamirambo Women’s Center for a cultural tour, or take a cooking class to learn how to make traditional Rwandan dishes.

Day 6: Scenic Drive to Nyungwe Forest & One&Only Nyungwe House
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Nyungwe National Park located in Southwestern part of Rwanda, Rusizi District.
The scenic drive takes about 6 hours to reach the park. The park has 4 families but 2 families are habituated.
One of the families is trekked Uwinka and the other bigger group is trekked from Cyamugongo.
However, the park also has 13 primates such as golden monkeys, red tailed monkey, olive baboons, velvet monkeys among others.
Upon arrival, check into One&Only Nyungwe house a luxury five-star lodge which is 7 minutes to the park.
The lodge offers beautiful views of the forest which is soothing.
For those who prefer to stay near nature, this is the perfect place to stay because of its eco-friendly accommodation well built with wooden materials.

Day 7: Exclusive Chimpanzee Tracking in Ancient Rainforests
After an early breakfast, head out for an exclusive chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest, one of the best places in Africa to track these remarkable primates in the wild.
You will meet up with your driver guide who will transfer you at the briefing center at 5: 30 am. After briefing, a private guide will take you into the forest to track the chimpanzees.
Depending on the location of the chimpanzees, trekking can last anywhere from 1 to 4 hours to locate the chimpanzees.
Once you find the chimps, you will have 1 hour to observe them from a safe distance. During this time, you will learn about their behavior, social structure, and the forest ecosystem.
It’s a unique opportunity to witness the chimps in their natural environment, often displaying social behaviors, feeding, playing, or grooming.
After the trek, return to our lodge for a well-deserved lunch, followed by some relaxation. You will have time to reflect on your experience and share stories from the trek.
Best time to do Exclusive Chimpanzee Trekking.
Dry Seasons (June to September & December to February). The trails are less muddy and slippery, making trekking easier and more comfortable. The lack of rain also makes it easier to track the chimps.
Shoulder Seasons (March to May & October to November)
These months fall in the rainy season, so the park is quieter, and there are fewer tourists. If you prefer more solitude, this might be a great time to visit.
The trails can be much more challenging, with more rain and mud, which makes trekking harder and potentially less enjoyable. But it also offers a more authentic jungle experience.

Day 8: Colobus Monkey Trekking & High-Altitude Canopy Walk
After breakfast, you will head out for exclusive colobus monkey trekking.
Your driver guide will drive you to the Nyungwe National Park briefing center which is located at the Uwinka Visitor Center.
Following the briefing, you will be assigned a private guide which ensures a more personalized and intimate experience.
The trek usually lasts about 1 to 2 hours depending on the location of the monkeys.
The colobus monkeys are typically found in high-altitude bamboo forests and are very active, so expect to see them leap through the trees and socialize.
The terrain can be steep in some areas, so wear comfortable trekking shoes and be ready for a moderate hike.
Your private guide will not only help you track the monkeys but also share valuable insights about their behavior, diet, and the unique ecology of Nyungwe forests.
The monkeys are incredibly playful and often move around in large groups, offering great opportunities for photographs and close observation.
After spending quality time with the monkeys, return to the lodge where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will head back to the Uwinka Visitor Center for the Canopy Walk experience.
Before you set foot on the canopy, you will receive a briefing from a park ranger about safety precautions and the best way to enjoy the walk.
The walk is a series of suspension bridges that allow you to feel the forest’s pulse as you move from tree to tree.
From this vantage point, you can spot wildlife that lives in the upper layers of the forest, such as monkeys, birds, and butterflies.
The canopy walks last approximately 1 -2 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Nyungwe’s treetop world. Return to the lodge where you will have time to relax and reflect on your adventure in the rainforest. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 9: Journey to Volcanoes National Park & One&Only Gorilla’s Nest
After breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park which takes about 4 – 5 hours crossing through Rwanda’s rolling hills and tea plantations.
Volcanoes National Park, located in the northwest of Rwanda, is the famous home of the mountain gorillas.
The park is known for its spectacular views of the Virunga Mountains, a chain of volcanoes that straddle Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest lake and its surrounding landscapes with terraced hillsides, rivers, and local villages dotting the countryside.
We can also stop at Gisenyi, a lakeside town on the shores of Lake Kivu for a short rest before continuing towards the Volcanoes region.
If you stop here, you can enjoy the lake views and stretch your legs.

Day 10: First Mountain Gorilla Trekking Encounter in Bwindi
Early start for your first Gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi.
The park is just a short drive from the lodge but it’s important to arrive early to complete the necessary formalities.
After the briefing, you will be transferred by vehicle to the starting point for your trek. The trek begins as you follow an experienced guide and porters through the dense rainforest.
The gorilla families are tracked by rangers and guides who know the general location of the gorillas, but you may still need to hike through thick vegetation.
Some trekking routes are easy, while others may be more challenging. As you get closer to the gorillas, you’ll be asked to stay quiet and follow the guide’s instructions.
You’ll have approximately 1 hour to observe the gorillas once you’ve found them.
You will have a chance to take photos but remember to keep the experience as natural as possible. Get your certificate and transfer back to your lodge for lunch. Dinner and Overnight stay.

After a relaxing breakfast, you will once again embark on a thrilling gorilla trek.
This time, you will track a different habituated gorilla family within the lush slopes of the Virunga Mountains.
Each trek is unique, offering the chance to observe different gorillas in their natural habitat, each with its own personality and family dynamics.
As you venture into the dense rainforest, your expert guides will share fascinating insights about the gorilla group you’re tracking and the park’s ongoing conservation effort
The trek could take between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas.
Once you locate the family, you will spend an awe-inspiring hour with them. Watch as the gorillas interact with one another, feed, or simply relax—this is a truly special experience.
After your time with the gorillas, head back to your guide’s designated meeting point for your certificate. Once you have returned to the lodge, take some time to relax and unwind.

After breakfast, get ready for another exciting wildlife experience – Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
These strikingly beautiful monkeys, with their golden fur and playful nature, are a special attraction in the park’s bamboo forests.
The trek to find these rare primates is relatively short compared to gorilla trekking, usually taking between 1 to 2 hours. After the trek, return to the lodge for a light lunch and relaxation.
