Day 1: Transfer to Mbale Town

Day 2: Transfer to Budadili at the Gate of Mountain Elgon National Park

Day 3: Sasa to Mude Camp

Day 4: Mude Camp to Wagagai

Day 5: Depart to Kampala/ Entebbe

Detailed Itinerary of the 5 Days Mount Elgon Trekking Tour

Day 1: Transfer to Mbale Town

Pick up from your overnight accommodation in Kampala or Jinja and transfer to Mbale. Final purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables, before check in at Mbale Resort Hotel or similar for dinner and overnight.

Meal Plan – Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: Drive to Budadili at the gate of Mt. Elgon National Park

Start walking to Sasa River Camp for dinner and overnight. (Sasa trail is the fastest way to the main peak, however the first day is particularly tough with a rugged climb of over 5, 249 feet. The distance is about 5 miles and takes average 7 to 8 hours walk.

Day 3: Sasa Camp to Mude Camp

After breakfast at the camping site, proceed through the forest to Mude Cave Campsite for dinner and overnight. Distance of the day about 2 miles, and a 4 to 5 hour walk

Day 4: Mude Camp to Wagagai

After breakfast walk through the moorland zone up to the main peak, Wagagai, and return to the Mude campsite for dinner and overnight. Distance of the day: 11.1 miles and 8 to 9 hours walk.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Kampala or the Entebbe International Airport to board your flight back home.
