The 6-Day Gorilla, Chimpanzee, and Queen Elizabeth Safari in Uganda is an unforgettable wildlife adventure.

You’ll begin with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, followed by chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park.

The journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can enjoy game drives across savannah and crater landscapes and a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel to spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife.

This itinerary perfectly combines primate encounters, classic African safari experiences, and scenic landscapes for a truly memorable Ugandan adventure.

Detailed 6-Day Primate & Big Game Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 1 of the 6 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Safari will start with a pick up from Entebbe International Airport by our professional driver guide who will meet and greet you.

Afterwards, your will begin the scenic transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which takes about 8 – 10 hours with enroute stopovers.

You will have lunch in Mbarara city. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation Option: Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge or Gorilla Heights Lodge

Meals Plan: Half Board     

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Encounter

On this day after having your heavy breakfast, here you will go for Gorilla Trekking. You then you will prepare yourself in appropriate clothing and get ready for Gorilla Trekking.

You will be transferred to the Parks centre for briefing about the DO’s and DON’T’S by a ranger guide.

After briefing, join your group and trek through bamboo forests in search of one of the habituated Gorilla families. 

When you finally meet them, you’ll spend a magical hour watching their behaviour, playful juveniles, nurturing mothers, and calm silverbacks.

This life-changing encounter offers deep emotional connection and appreciation for conservation efforts.

Return to your lodge to rest and enjoy a relaxing moment.  Later in the evening, you will visit the Batwa people for a cultural encounter.

Meals Plan: Full Board   

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Kasenyi Plains)

After breakfast, drive north through scenic landscapes to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most diverse savannah park.

The drive is about 5–6 hours passes through beautiful farmlands and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive in the park for a game drive in the Kasenyi plains, look out for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and, if lucky, lions lounging in the sun.  Dinner and Overnight stay.

Accommodation: Mweya Safari Lodge or Elephant Plains Lodge

Meal plan: Full board     

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Day 4 of the Safari will begin with a mouth-watering breakfast, and thereafter you head out for a morning game drive that will expose you to diverse animals including the Big five— (elephant, rhinoceros, lion, leopard and buffalo), Warthogs, Hyenas, and many more species that are residents to this park.

There is a rich birdlife such as Marital Eagles, African fin foot, African skimmer, Lesser Flamingos among others.  You will go back to the Lodge for lunch and relaxation.     

Later in the Afternoon, you head out for a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George.

Here you’ll see land and water adapted hippos, Elephants, Nile crocodile, Warthog etc.

Birds like pelicans, kingfishers, and African fish eagles among others. From there you will transfer to Kibale National Park for Dinner and Overnight Stay.

Meals Plan: Full Board      

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale & Bigodi Wetland Walk

After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing before you proceed to track man’s closest relative of all the apes- the chimpanzees.

These will take you between 4-6 hours to find and once you find them you will be allowed 1 hour in their presence watching them go about their way of life. After tracking, return to the lodge for lunch. 

After lodge, you will headout for the Bigodi wetland walk-4.5km walk along the rich wildlife corridor of Kibale forest.

This is a 3 hours walk that allows you to interact closely with the forest and spot a number of bird species such as the Kingfishers. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Meals Plan: Full Board        

Day 6: The Equator Experience & Departure

The 6 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari ends today.

You will have a delicious breakfast and get ready to be transferred with a stopover at the Equator line in Masaka for photos and experiments of the northern and southern hemisphere.

You will then proceed to Entebbe international airport for your flight depending on your flight schedule or your hotel.  End of Tour.
