How This Safari Contributes to Eco & Green Tourism

Choosing this safari directly supports Uganda’s “High Value, Low Impact” tourism model. Your journey contributes to the environment and local communities in the following ways:

  • Conservation Financing: A majority of your Gorilla and Chimpanzee permit fees fund the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), paying for ranger patrols and habitat restoration.
  • Community Empowerment: 20% of park entry fees are legally mandated to be shared with local communities, funding schools and clinics to ensure wildlife is seen as a communal asset.
  • Sustainable Livelihoods: We prioritize local site guides and eco-lodges that employ staff from neighboring villages, providing green jobs as an alternative to subsistence poaching or logging.
  • Biodiversity Protection: Your visit provides the economic justification needed to protect critical carbon sinks like Bwindi and Kibale from agricultural encroachment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Is the Gorilla trekking permit secured as part of this package? Yes. We handle the entire procurement process with the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Due to high demand, we recommend booking at least 3 to 6 months in advance.
  2. What is the “Green Season” and should I visit then? The Green Season (March–May and October–November) offers lush scenery and better birding opportunities. While rain is more frequent, it is a great time for “Green Tourism” as parks are less crowded and lodges often offer lower rates.
  3. What should I pack for an eco-friendly safari? We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to reduce plastic waste, biodegradable toiletries, and neutralized-colored clothing (khaki/green) to blend in with the natural environment.
  4. Are the lodges environmentally conscious? We partner with eco-lodges that utilize solar power, harvest rainwater, and implement strict waste management systems to minimize their ecological footprint.
