Detailed Itinerary of the 18 Days Uganda Birding & Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Entebbe to Kampala
Upon arrival Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our guide for orientation about the safari and after transfers you to the hotel for the overnight at Cassia Lodge.
Day 2: Kampala City Tour
Have breakfast, take a city tour visiting important sites in Kampala, including the local markets, Uganda Museum with its cultural heritage and the historical architecture of the ancient tribes within Uganda, and transfer to Kasubi tombs the burial place for the Buganda Kings and the African craft market. Return for Lunch at the hotel, as you relax, as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Early morning breakfast; depart for Murchison falls National Park which derives its name from the Murchison falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge. As you enjoy the drives via the Luwero triangle with lunch en-route at Masindi hotel, upon arrival at the park you may visit the top of the falls where the Nile plunges its water from narrow strip and then to Paraa Lodge.
Day 4: Full Day at Murchison Falls National Park
After Early breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive in the Northern part of the park. View a wide range of wildlife including buffaloes, cobs, giraffes, elephants and a variety of bird species. Have lunch at the lodge, and then in the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise to the foot of the magnificent Murchison falls where water escapes from the narrow strip as well as seeing other aquatic habitats such as Hippos, Nile Crocodiles and water birds along the river bank overnight as above
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, depart for Kibale Forest National Park, stop over for lunch after proceed to Kibale the home for different primate Species such as Chimpanzee, Colobus Monkey and many other can be traced in the Kibale national park overnight at Kyaninga Lodge.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi wetland Walk
Have breakfast, after go for the chimp trek along the walks you may sport chimps, white colobus monkeys, , grey-checked mangabeys, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, baboons and chimpanzees bird species such as the great blue turaco, Africa pied king fisher , malkites. Can all be sported during the walk return for lunch, as you relax at the lodge, overnight as above.
Day 7: Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have breakfast, after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park pass via Kasese and upon arrival take en-route game drive as you proceed to the lodge for lunch, then in the evening transfer to Maramagambo forest for bird watching and variety of various birds will be spotted and then in the evening return to the lodge with the sun set off game drive to take photographic game drive viewing. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge.
Day 8: Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After Early breakfast, you will leave for an early morning game drive, with opportunities to view a wide range of wildlife such as elephants, giant forest hog, waterbucks, buffaloes, topi, Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species. Return for lunch at the lodge, and then in the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel with a high concentration of Hippos, Herds of buffaloes and elephants. Dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After Early morning breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive in the Ishasha region where you may have opportunities to sport the tree climbing lions, hyenas and other wild species such as buffaloes, cobs, , elephants, can be spotted on the drive return to the lodge for lunch , relax at the lodge overnight stay at Ishasha Jungle Lodge.
Day 10: Ishasha Sector to Bwindi Gorilla Forest
After breakfast transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha famous for tree-climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi stop over for lunch; afterward drive to Bwindi with an overnight at Mahogany springs.
Day 11: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park
After a heavy early morning breakfast and short briefing from the guides then depart for the gorilla tracking experience. As you enjoy both an amazing and exciting experience to you may sport other interesting bird species as well as other nocturnal primates like the bush buck and then return to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Note: Come with the trekking requirements like rain gears, walking shores, hut, insect repellent, sun screen, camera and spare batteries, warm clothes among others.
Day 12: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi Island
Have breakfast, then with en-route birding drive to Lake Bunyonyi where you will have to interact with the Batwa people as the shortest pigmies as well as observing different bird species can be spotted at the islands ’. After Lunch, relax at the lodge and later enjoy a boat cruise along the islands, overnight at nature’s prime islands which is suitable pristine place for birders.
Day 13: Lake Bunyonyi
After Breakfast, depart for the village walks along the homesteads of the Batwa people return for lunch as you will also the Batwa entertainments in the evening, overnight as above.
Day 14: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park. The scenic drive takes you through the Kigezi highlands. Have lunch at Mbarara and later proceed to Lake Mburo National Park overnight at Mihingo Lodge.
Day 15: Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park
An early start for morning game drive via the Zebra trail, the drive will enable you to see zebras, topis, elands, impalas, buffaloes olive and vervet monkeys. Spotting different bird species return for lunch afterwards depart for Kampala and overnight stay at Cassia Lodge.
Day 16: Transfer to Jinja Town
Have breakfast, and after transfer to Jinja via the ecological Mabira forest very suitable for birders and you will have a stop to look for the unique birds and after in the evening transfer to Jinja and stay at Heaven lodge.
Day 17: Bird along the River Nile take the boat cruise visiting several points demarcated as bird homes and then have lunch and then in the evening drive back Entebbe and stay at Bomah Guest House.
Day 18: Go bird at Mabamba Bay wetland and then in the late night transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
