Trip Overview of the 14 Days Uganda Birding Safari
Day 1: Arrival and Pick Up
On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you are picked up by a company driver guide to transfer you to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens to enjoy Bird Watching then later to the Mabamba Wetland Swamp where you might watch the sought after Shoebill stork. After your 14 Days Uganda bird watching experience here, transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel in Kampala. Cassia Lodge Buziga, Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Kampala Serena Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Semliki National Park
Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the stunning Semliki National Park for a period of 5-6 hours. Drive through various Districts then later break off for lunch and later proceed on with your journey. When you reach the Park, proceed to check-in your lodge/ hotel then later transfer to the Park to experience a night Game Drive with an experienced Ranger Guide searching for nocturnal wildlife animals like the Night jars, potto, bush babies, etc.
Day 3: Bird Watching in Semliki National Park
Wake up early have breakfast then transfer into the forest vegetation to watch the different Birds that inhabit the park. The Bird Species you watch in the Park can be trailed following the Kirumira Trail and these include; western forest hornbills, Red-billed, Black- wattled, Black-billed and White-crested Hornbill, African Piculet, ZImbab-Honey-guide, Red-rumped Tinkerbird, Rufous-sided Broadbill etc.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage and gear, transfer to the beautiful Kibale Forest National Park and when you reach here, transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel and if you prefer, proceed to experience a guided Nature Walk along the various trails watching primates and birds within the forest. Day 5: Bird Watching in Kibale Forest National Park
Wake up in the morning have breakfast then transfer to the prominent Sebitoli Bird Watching Site where you see various species of birds flying around their natural forest vegetation. At this Site, expect to watch numerous Birds like the Olive Long-tailed Cuckoo, African Black Duck, Cabanis’ green bul, Black-crowned Waxbill, White-spotted Flufftail, White-breasted Negrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Yellow-billed Barbet, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Black & white Shrike-flycatcher, Western Nicator, Superb Sunbird. Primate Lodge Kibale, Chimpanzee View Guesthouse, Ndali lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Mountain Rwenzori National Park
Wake up have breakfast then with your packed lunch, transfer to Mountain Rwenzori National Park. En-route enjoy beautiful views of the green terrain vegetation then later when you reach Mountain Rwenzori National Park, enjoy views of the various species flying around their natural forest vegetation and the birds you see here include; the purple breasted sunbird, Abyssinian, Red faced, Shelly’s and Dusky Crimson-wing, Red-bellied seed cracker, Woodhouse Antipecker, Grey Apalis, Ayres and Cassin’s Hawk-eagle. Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage, transfer to Bwindi Forest National park with Packed Lunch via the prominent Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After a while driving with en-route lunch, you arrive at the stunning Bwindi Forest National park and transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel for Relaxation, Dinner and overnight. Day 8: Bird Watching Safari in Bwindi Forest National Park Uganda
Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the Buhoma Forest Region to enjoy watching the various birds that inhabit the green forest vegetation terrain habitat. The Bird Species you see here include; the Jameson’s Antpecker, Pink-footed Puff back, Waller’s Starling, Crested Guinea fowl, Barred Long-tailed Cuckoo, Grey Crowned Crane, White-headed Saw-wing, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, African Olive-pigeon, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Petit’s Cuckoo-shrike, Cassin’s Flycatcher, Ruwenzori Batis, Ansorge’s Greenbul, Klaas’s Cuckoo, White-throated Greenbul, etc. Dinner and overnight. Day 9: Bird safari in Ruhija Section at Bwindi Forest Uganda
Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the Ruhija Section of Bwindi forest to enjoy watching the various Bird species here. When you get there, the Bird Species you see include; the Mountain Wagtail, Red-tailed and Shelley’s Greenbul, Cassin’s Flycatcher, Black Duck, Banded Prinia, Grey-throated Barbet, Common Buzzard, Tree Pipit, Chin-spot Batis, Black-billed Turaco, Fine-banded Woodpecker, Dwarf Honeyguide, Red-tailed Greenbul, Bee-eaters. After watching the birds transfer for Dinner and Overnight. Ruhija Hostel.
Day 10: All-day Birding safari to Mubwindi Swamp, Uganda.
After breakfast we head for a whole day birding to the Mubwindi Swamp. The 4km trail to Mubwindi Swamp drops from 2350m to 2050m and is the best place for some of the most difficult to find of all rift endemics including Grauer’s Broadbill the beautiful Regal Sunbird and Archer’s Robin-Chat. Mubwindi Swamp is home to Dwarf Honeyguide, Stripe-breasted Tit.
Day 11: All- day birding tour in the Bamboo Section
Birding along the main road through the bamboo area for more chances of Albertine rift and Highland Endemics not leaving out the powerful singing but hard to see bradypterus warblers.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Lake Mburo National Park a journey of about 4-5 hours and when you reach the Park take on a Guided Nature Walk along the various trails watching the various wildlife animals as well as numerous Bird species. After the walk, proceed to check-in your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Mihingo Lodge, Mburo Safari Lodge, Rwakobo Rock lodge.
Day 13: Bird Watching in Lake Mburo National Park
Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to Lake Mburo National Park’s green forest vegetation to watch numerous birds flying from one place to another and these include; red papyrus gonalek, black papyrus gonalek, and yellow papyrus gonalek found in the papyrus swamp areas, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fishing eagle, saddle billed stork, white winged warbler, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested wattled plover, African fin foot, Grey crowned crane, black-billied bustard etc.
Day 14: Departure to Kampala
Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage embark on your transfer to Kampala or the Entebbe International Airport to board your flight back home.
